Abstract

This work was done in order to throw li ght spot on the effect of walking exercises on plasma catecholamines, the electrolytes i n mild and moderate hype1iens ion. In this work the experiments were limited on male subjects on l y.
The present stud y w&s done on twenty subjects (ten normotensives and ten hypertensives). The systo li c blood pressu re, diasto lic blood pressure a nd heart rate were measured and pul se pressure was ca lcul ated for every su bject before starting walking exercises every session. Pl asma catecholamines, sodiu m and potassium were estimated before starting wa l king for the first, sixth and twelveth sessions on l y. The n the subject was instructed to start walking on a treadmill for thirty minutes at a speed of about 5 kilometer/ hour and grade resista nce acco rding to his capab ility.
