Effect of Oral Dygesterone on Latency Period and Prenatal Outcomes in Pregnant Females with Preterm Prelabour Rupture of Membrane Between 30-33 Weeks of Pregnancy (A Randomized Controlled Trial)

Abstract


The aim of the study was to assess the efficacy of oral dydrogeterone on latency period and prenatal outcome on patients with preterm prelabour rupture of membranes between 30 to 33 week of gestation.
This study was carried out on 90 pregnant women with preterm prelabour rupture of membrane in weeks of gestation 30-33 weeks, admitted to Ain Shams University maternity hospital. They divided into two groups. Group D include 45 patients that received Dydrogeterone (Duphaston). Group P included 45 patients that received placebo as folic acid 500 mg orally twice daily.
Our results summarized that,
 Age at group D ranged from 21-34 with mean value 28.6±3.89 and at group P ranged from 20-35 with mean value 27.7±5.1. Gestational age at group D ranged from 30-33 with mean value 31.49±1.10 and at group P ranged from 30-33 with mean value 31.5±1.2. There was no statistical significant difference between the two studied groups regarding age and gestational age.
 There was no statistical significant difference between the two studied groups regarding maternal history.
 There was statistical significant difference between the two studied groups regarding the number of pregnancy
