Abstract

Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a pressing issue posing challenges to women health care. It can be a life-threatening condition or a debilitating disorder. So, it should be dealt with properly and women should be aware to identify HMB as a disorder and not a normal condition or variant. HMB could easily lead to anemia if was prolonged and left uncompensated and untreated. Anemia in reproductive-aged women poses as a risk factor for antepartum and postpartum bleeding. Postpartum haemorrhage represents the most common cause of maternal mortality. Also, the immediate and short term consequence of anemia is the poor quality of life due to fatigue, low physical activity and effort intolerance.
