Abstract

This work was carried out on 2'03 children chosen randomly from primary and prep-school aged from 6-12 years old. The sample was fi•om two districts offayum:- The first :,rroup was from city offayum representing Urban group.

The second group was from Ibshway village representing the rural sector. The aim of this study was to: Evaluate the dietary intake of children compared to R.D.A

Determine anthropometric measurements of children under investigation Assess socio-economic status of children as a factor influencing nutrition. Discover any nutritional problems between children. •

The data were collected from two different types 9f schools according to different socio-economic levels 1 . AJ Abour primary school (mral)

2. Molhaket El Moalmeen primary school and Fatma El-Zahraa prep school (urban) 3. Om EI-Moomeneen prep-school (mral)

Nutritional status of children in both kind of schools was determined, including dietary intake and anthropometric measurements compared to standard measurements (Jellife 1966) Socio-economic data was collected including, age, sex, education level of parents, occupation, income, and family size.
