STUDY OF THE ROLE OF SOME CYTOKINES AND ANTISPERM ANTIBODIES IN MALE INFERTILITY

Abstract


This study was carried out at clinical pathology Department and


Andrology unit of Assiut University Hospital in the period from January


1999 to July 2000. It includes 55patients (inpatients and outpatients). Their ages ranged from 20 to 50 years. All patients complaining of either primary or secondary infertility (unable to get a child within 1.5 years with regular marital life and without a cause in the female partner). For each patient the following clinical data were fulfilled:
1- Duration of infertility (either primary or secondary).


2- History of genital infection, trauma or operations.


The patients examined for exclusion of cases with absent or abdominal testis, varicosities, congenital anomalies.
The following investigations were carried out:


- Semen analysis.


-Culture of the semen.


- Determination of the level of antisperm antibodies by ELISA


-Detection of interleukin -Iand interleukin-6 by ELISA technique.
