ROLE OF SURGERY IN PATIENTS WITH _ CERBROVASCULARSTROKE

Abstract


This study was conducted on 469 patients with cerebrovascular stroke admitted to Alexandria Main University hospital in the period between the I st of April to the end of September.
Three hundreds and sixty four cases (77.6%) were ischemic and I 05 cases (22.3%) were hemorrhagic. Of the 105 cases of hemorrhagic stroke 88 cases ( 18.7%) were due to ICH and 17 cases (3.6%) were due to SAH. The series included 220 males (46.9%) and 249 females (53.1%). Cerebrovascular stroke occurred more commonly above the age of 40 years (72%). Hemorrhagic stroke was more common in the sixth decade while ischemic stroke was more common
in the seventh decade.
