Abstract

The present study was done to compare between the complete biophysical profile score (BPPS), the modified biophysical profile (MBPP), and middle cerebral to umbilical artery SID ratio (MCAIUA SID ratio), as regards their ability to predict the perinatal outcome in post-term pregnancy.

For this purpose, 90 pregnant women attending the antenatal clinic and Emergency Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Sohag University Hospital were recruited in the study fulfilling the selection criteria of being 41 weeks or more calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period, having a singleton fetus in the vertex presentation and with no complications of pregnancy such as diabetes, hypertension.... etc.

After a complete history, physical and obstetric examination, and an initial ultrasound examination for biometric measurements, amniotic fluid index, placental bleeding, fetal presentation and position, those women were randomly divided into two equal groups (45 women each) Group I, were followed by the complete biophysical profile. Group II, were followed by the modified biophysical profile. Then 50 cases (25 cases from each group) were randomly selected and subjected to Doppler ultrasound examination of fetal middle cerebral and umbilical arteries.
