Abstract
Mtmgbean plant {Vigna radiata) L. (Wilczek) has been recently introduced to be cultivated in Egypt. This crop is attacked by a variety of insect pests either in the field or in the store.
Part-1: pests infesting mungbean crop in the field:
The present investigation was carried out in Shalakan Station, El Kanater, Qualyubia Governorate (30 Km north Cairo) to survey insect pests on two cultivars of mungbean; Kawmy-1 and Giza-1.
Three successive plantations starting on 15th May, 15th June and 15th
July were cultivated during two successive years (1994-1995).
Survey studies of insect species found on mungbean plants in the field

revealed the presence of 51 species belonging to 36 families related to 10
orders.
