Manometric study of oesophageal motor activity in diabetes mellitus

Abstract
In a prospective study we aimed to evaluate 60 subjects 30 healthy and 30 diabetic patients type I (n=!5) and type 2 (n=l5).
Objective:
The aim of this work was to study oesophageal motility in
30 diabetic patients and 30 healthy controls and their relation to clinical manifestations of peripheral and autonomic neuropathy.
All patients were examined as follows:
Laboratory investigations (glucose, urine for protein content, serum urea and serum createnine) were done.
Neurological examination to detect the presence of peripheral and autonomic neuropathy.
Upper endoscopy was done to exclude any gatro- oesophageal troubles that may affect the study.
Abdominal ultrasonography was done to detect any abnormalities mainly gallbladder disease.
