Shadia Mossad Ali Shahwan;
Abstract
Three experiments were carried out at Gemmeiza Agricultural Research Station on winter and summer forage crops during 1992 : 1997 seasons:-
The first experiment:-
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of the residues extract of preceding crops on seed germination and seedling development of forage crops .
A- Effect of residues extract of preceding summer crops 1-e (cotton, maiZe, sorghum•, sunflower and soybean) on seed germination and seedling development of winter forage crops i-e
( clover , fodder beet and tyfon).
B- Effect of residues extract of preceding winter crops i-e ( wheat, broad bean, flax and clover) on seed germination and seedling development of summer forage crops i-e (millet, sorghum, cowpea and guar. ).
The second experiment:-
This experiment was carried out to study the effect of temperature (5,10,15,20 and 25C0 or 10,15, 20, 25 and 30 C0)and seeding depth (1,2,3,4 and 5 em or 2 ,4 , 6 ,8 and 10 em) on the emergence and seedling development of winter and summer forage crops.
The third experiment:-
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of different concentrations of sodium chloride, calcium chloride and isoosmolal solutions of mannitol on the germination and seedling development of winter and summer forage crops.
