HBV DNA BY QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE PCR MEASUREMENT IN CASE OF CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE AND HEPATOCELLUlAR CARCINOMA

Ashraf Abd El - Raouf Dawood;

Abstract

Eighty eight patients with chronic liver diseases were included in this study from outpatient clinic of Liver Institute, Menoufiya University, and on 20 healthy persons as control group.

The patients group was divided into 2 subgroups:

l) Chronic hepatitis B subgroup.

2) HCC subgroup.

The chronic hepatitis B subgroup was subclassified into: A) Chronic hepatitis B with HBeAg positive.
B) Chronic hepatitis B with HBeAg negative.

The blood was aspirated from patients and control groups. The serum was tested for AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase, albumin, total protein, bilirubin (total & direct), GGT, HBsAg, HBeAg, Anti-HBclgG and anti-HCV. Quantitative PCR by branched DNA hybridization assay (Chiron), qualitative PCR (HBV DNA PCR) were done for patients only.
