MAHA MOHAMED HAMDY AHMED ASHOUSH;

Abstract

This work was conducted to study some ecological aspects, life cycle and the effect of some compounds which can be used for the control of some leaf miners.

Part one: Ecological studies:

The population fluctuation, infestation percentages, perferable zone of weather factors and population dynamics were studied at three regions (Shebin El-Kom, Tala and Sers El Layyan). Weekly samples were picked up from three leguminous crops (faba beans- peas and kidney bean). The insects which attack these crops: Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess), Phytomyza atricornis (Megien) and Melanagromyza phaseoli (Tryon).

1-Shebin El-Kom region: This insect occurred with high density, in the first season (1996-1997), the larvae recorded three peaks during 2nd. week of February, 1997, 3 rd. week of March,
1997 and 2nd. week of April, 1997 with mean numbers of 41.3,

22.9 and 14.6 larvae/ leaf, respectively.
