HEPATITIS C VIRUS GENOTYPES IN CHRONIC LIVER DISEASES

is most common cause of chronic liver diseases. The aim of this work .. was to detect HCV genotype which prevails among Egyptian patient s

with chronic liver disease and to detect if there is differe nce betwee n HCV genotype in serum versus the liver tissues. Samples (se rum a nd liver tissue) were collected from 47 patients with chronic HCV li ve r diseases and PCR was done, out of all cases, PCR was positi ve in 34 cases. genotype 4 was found in 26 HCV.

was found in only 8 cases. HCV genotype was quite similar both in serum and liver tissue, while HCV subtypes might show variation between serum and liver tissue.
