Abstract


The study atms at showing the importance of the notion prudential regulations and supervisory measures such that liberalization alone without an adequate level of supervision will not stabilize financial markets. Analyzing both the Egyptian and EU expenences with banking reforms and their regulatory structures. Assessing the impact of the recent financial turmoil on both.

The Study is divided in to 3 mam Chapters, Chapter One starts by introducing the concept, benefits and sequence of financial liberalization under the framework of the general agreement of trade in services (GATS). The concept and types of prudential regulations. Presenting some Empirical studies withdrawn concerning liberalization of financial services mainly represented in the banking sector and on the other hand, prudential regulations, the adherents of each approach, and the relation between both.

Chapter Two provides a background on the Egyptian banking sector, structure and its regulatory framework and finally analyzing the Egyptian experience with the recent' financial crisis.

Chapter Three starts by presenting the EU evolution towards the single market, The EU Regulatory and supervisory architecture and finally The EU Experience with the, Global Crisis and finally the study presents some conclusions and proposed reconunendations.
