MANAL FATHY ABDEL-MOATI ODA;

Abstract

Considerable evidence indicates that patients with CRF have a high incidence of coronary artery disease and accelerated atherosclerosis.
The present work aimed at investigating plasma lipoprotein (a), and lipid profile in patients with CRF and the effect of hemodialysis on lipids and lipoprotein Lp(a).
The study was conducted on forty subjects. Who were classified into two groups: - Group 1: This group included twenty patients with CRF who undergo hemodialysis for the first time. They were investigated before dialysis and after two to three months of dialysis.
- Group 2: This group included twenty normal healthy subjects of matched age and sex.
All groups were subjected to the following laboratory investigations:

I. Kidney function tests as serum urea and serum creatinine.

II. Serum lipids profile as triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C and lipoprotein "a" which was done by ELIZA technique.
