COMPARISON OF DIGITAL RECTAL EXAMINATION, TRANSRECTAL ULTRASOUND, AND MULTICOIL MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING FOR PREOPERATIVE EVALUATION OF PROSTATE CANCER
SAFWAT EZZAT EL SHAHAT;
Abstract
The prostate cancer is the most common malignant tumor m men, as it is found in about 30% of men above 50 years. So those men who older than 50 years of age and have lower urinary tract symptoms either obstructive or irritative, or who have high abnormal serum level of prostate specific antigen (PSA) regardless of digital rectal examination (DRE) findings, are advised to undergo transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), with ultrasound guided prostate needle biopsy in suspicious lesion, that increase the percentage of diagnosis of localized prostate cancer, even identification of non palpable tumor to detect significant number of curable cancer in order to reduce morbidity and mortality rate.
