"Geophysical Study On The Area Between Latitudes 25°-29°NAnd Longitudes 31o -33° 30 E, Eastern Desert Of Egypt"
EMAD MOHAMED MAMDOUH MOHAMED;
Abstract
THEarea under investigation lies between latitudes 250-
290N and longitudes 310-330 30 E, Eastern Desert of
Egypt.
The present work deals with geophysical studies upon analyzing and processing some available geophysical data in the form of Bouguer gravity map, deep seismic refraction data and seismic lines.
In this study respect, the Bouguer gravity map was analyzed to outline the deep geological structural features that may be of probable ecologic interest. Also, it intends to discuss some about the regional evolution and isostatic state ofthe • area.
At first, digital filtering of the basic gravity data was carried out utilizing low-cut, high-cut and band-pass types of different operators and nine maps were prepared. Examination of these maps reveals that;
i- The 8-unit residual filter is optimum for defining smaller features at shallow depths.
u- The f.1.3-8 unit band pass filter is the best for following the causative features of intermediate depths.
iii- The 21.3 unit regional filter seems to be the best for outlining the larger anomalies at deep depths.
The spectral analysis and autocorrelation of the Bouguer gravity data indicate the presence of three subsurface
