EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE TO POLYVINYL CHLORIDE ON TRACE ELEMENTS IN EGYPTIAN WORKERS

Abstract


The present study was carried out on a total number of
122 male workers in the factory of Plastic Pipes and Product (P.P.P) in the tenth ofRamadan city and 103 male workers in the governmental administration departments in the same city.
The following step in our work was the environment assessment. It was done to measure the dose of the hazardous agents to which the workers were exposed at work place.
These measurements include dust and vapour PVC
analysis. The concentration was above the high permissible
level.
This work aims at studying the health effects of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) on trace element in Egyptian workers.
The workers were interviewed to fill ha questionnaire
especially designed to fullfil the requirements of this study .
All workers in both groups were subjected to clinical examination including occupational and medical histories.
* The following investigation were performed :
I. Serum lead, Copper, Zinc and Cemloplasimine.
2. Environmental study.
Further classification of the exposed workers was carried out according to work site as following:
1- Workers in the central Batch plant. (mixer).
2- Workers in the crusher section.
3- Workers in the production line section.
4- Workers iii the supervision and control laboratory.
5-The rest of the employees were indirectly exposed to the injurious substance, although they work in offices , they were 19 persons.
There was no significant difference concerning the pulse
and diastolic blood pressure in workers compared to control,
