STUDY OF TIMP-1 AS A GROWTH FACTOR IN MALIGNANT LYMPHOID NEOPLASMS

Abstract


This study was conducted on 41 patients with lymphoid malignancies including 28 patients with NHL, 7 patients with ALL, 2 patients with CLL and 4 patients with Hodgkin's disease.

The study also incl uded 18 patients with benign Jymphoid diseases incl uding 4 patients with tuberculosis, 4 patients with toxoplasmosis, 4 patients with sarcoidosis and
6 patients with reactive lymphoid hyperplasia secondary to

bacterial or viral infections.


The study included history taking, full clinical examination, complete blood picture, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, chest X-ray, biochemical investigations incl uding renal function tests, liver function tests, fasting blood gl ucose, serum unc aci d, serum lactate dehydrognease enzyme, pelviabdominal sonography, CT brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis, testicu lar ultrasound for male patients with ALL, bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy, immnophenotyping, l ymph node biopsy and immuno-histochemistery, cytogenetic study, lumbar
