Abstract

From the results obtained in the present work , the following conclusions can be drawn out :

I - Knitted fabrics made of I 00% polyester fibres offer properties different from those of all cotton fabrics , to an extent depending on the type of structure .

2 - The using of I 00% poiyester knitted fabrics provides a remarkable improvement in both the mechanical and filtration properties compared with I 00% cotton fabrics .

3 - Both tightness factor and twist multiplier atlcct to a t,>Teat extent on mechanical and filtration properties .

4 - For all polyester structures , specific work of rupture , bursting strength, filtration efficiency , and pressure drop increase but pore diameter and lateral expansion decrease as tightness factor increases. Conversely , rate of abrasion decreases as tightness factor increases especially for both pile fabric and single pique structures .

5 - Twist multiplier of knitted yarns aflccts with a different trends on both mechanical and filtration properties according to the type of structure .
