Biochemical Detection• of Some Proteins Associated with Schistosomiasis
Hisham Ismail Mohammed Osman;
Abstract
Schistosomiasis remains one of the major public health• problems of the tropics. An estimated 600 million people are exposed, and more than 200 million are infected at present. During the past few years ,schistosomiasis control has been improved dramatically by the new, non-toxic and highly effective
schistosomicidal compounds e.g. Praziquantel. Praziquantel is the generic name of
>
2- cyclohexylcarbonyl- 1,2,3,6,7,11 b- hexahydro-2H-pyrazino (2,1-a) isoquinolin-
4-one. It is white to pale yellowish crystalline powder of molecular weight :
312.41, melting point : 136-140 °C, and very soluble in chloroform, soluble in ethanol, methanol, and very slightly soluble in water.
