Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the clay Jar subsurface fertigation technique for tomato and cantaloupe crops in newly reclaimed soils. The study comprise two main parts can be summarized as follows:

r•"• Part I. Preliminary Experiments:
This part of study was conducted to study the filtration characteristics of the clay Jars in different shapes under varying hydrostatic heads. Four shapes of clay Jar namely vertical tube, Horizontal tube, conical and spherical shapes were used separately as water emitters. These Jars were fabricated locally from red earthenware in three permeability levels namely A.1, A.2 and A.3 .
