EFFECTS OF ANAGALLIS ARVENS/S EXTRACT AS MOLLUSCICIDE ON SOME BIOLOGICAL ASPECTS, OF SOME LAND SNAILS AT DELTA REGION

Abstract

The land snails are the most dangerous agriculture pests during the last ten years till now . It has a serious damages on the economical plants as well as on fruits trees , and ornamental plants . So , great efforts have been carried out to solve this problem , such as mechanical and biological attempts. The present study has been carried out as an effort to solve this problem at Delta region represented in Sharkia Governorate at four cities , Zagazig ( Kafr-Attallah ) , Belbies , Meniet­ Elqumah , and Abo-Hammad . The result obtained in the present study Showed clearly that :- Monacha arbustorum , Helice/la vesta/is and Theba pisana were recorded and are distributed at the 4 cities .They have the highest population densities during winter and spring and the most infested plants in these areas are wheat , cotton , Egyptian clover , etc. Kafr­ Attallah site was the most infested area followed by Abo-Hammad , Belbies , and Meniet-Elqumah. The extraction of A.aNensis has proved to be an effective molluscicide even at low concentration against the three snail species. The histoparasitical examination of the hermaphrodite gland showed clearly that the hermaphrodite gland of M.arbustorum is heavily infected with a coccidian parasite ( klossia sp. )
