A STUDY OF SERUM LIPIDS AND LIPOPROTEINS IN ACUTE INFECTIONS
Amani Saad Abdalla Saad;
Abstract
Infectious diseases are among the most prevalent and important causes of ill health throughout the world and at all ages. They remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in infants and children.
Several major groups of micro-organisms are responsible for infection and resultant diseases in man. These include bacteria, viruses,
,mycoplasmas, rickettsiae and chlamydiae in addition to fungi and protozoa. Bacterial diseases remain by far, the commonest cause of death and disability in the developing countries.
Studies performed world wide have suggested a link between hypercholesterolemia and increased risk of premature atherosclerosis, many pediatricians consider cholesterol testing as a part of continuing child care, in particular for children with a family history of coronary heart disease.
