Abstract

Cancer is a genetic disease characterized by two features: unregulated cell growth and tissue invasion (metastasis). Angiogenesis is a complex process in which there is growth of new blood vessels from the pre-existing ones and is an essential phenomenon for the growth and survival of solid neoplasms. Vascular endothelial-derived growth factor (VEGF) is one of the most important and potent angiogenic molecules which play an integral role in tumor angiogenesis. VEGFR-2 inhibition has been considered as an effective strategy for the prevention of angiogenesis. Antiangiogenic therapy based on VEGFR-2 inhibition is a powerful clinical treatment of cancers and
