Cultural Practices in Relation to Some [ Key Pests Infesting Sugarbeet in t Reclaimed Soils, Assiut, Egypt

Abstract
The present study was carried out at El-Ghorieb Farm, Assiut University during four seasons, i.e. from 1997/1998 to 2000/2001 to study some ecological aspects of certain insect pests inhabiting sugarbeet crop. In addition laboratory studies were counted to elucidate the effect of constant temperatures on the development of the beet fly, P. mixta. Results obtained could be summarized as follows:
A) Ecological Studies:
1. Survey of Insect Pests and their Natural Enemies in
Sugarbeet Fields:
Twenty seven insect species belonging to 17 families and 8 orders were surveyed during a period extending from October until following June throughout two successive seasons, 1997-1998 and 1998-1999. The surveyed species could be grouped as follows:
1.1. The least dominant insects (visitors):
This group contained 8 insect species and 2 species of natural enemies.
