Relationship between Staff Nurses' Burnout and Patient Level of Satisfaction

Abstract

Conclusion
T
he study results lead to the conclusion that a considerable proportion of the nurses in the study settings suffer from burnout at work. This is particularly evident in the domain of exhaustion. This burnout is higher among married and more experience nurses. On the other hand, a clearly high percentage of the patients under their care are not satisfied with the services provided, particularly in the areas of physical nursing care. Patients’ satisfaction varies among departments, and is influenced by their age and history of previous hospitalization. Nurses’ burnout and patient satisfaction are closely and negatively correlated, and nurses’ burnout is a significant independent negative predictor of patients’ satisfaction. Hence, the problem of nurses’ burnout needs to be resolved in order to improve patients’ satisfaction.
