Abstract
The peri-orbital region serves as a barometer of the chronologie and environmental age, as such patients seek its cosmetic rejuvenation
Eyelid depressions can be divided into iatrogenic, developmental & traumatic, they can occur in both the upper & lower lids. Excessively deep upper lid depressions are considered un esthetic, while lower lid depressions can be classified into depressed inferior palpebral folds, depressed septal portions of the lower lid & depressed nasojugal folds.
Techniques for rejuvenating the peri-orbital area can be classified into:
Non-surgical techniques
o Which include dermatologic treatment: topical therapy (retinoic acid and alpha hydroxyl acids), chemical peels, Botulinum toxin A injections, laser resurfacing and dermabrasion.
o Minimal photodamage with mild rhytides should be responsive to topical acid therapy and superficial peels, whereas moderate wrinkling and photodamage generally require medium depth peels, collagen injections or erbium: YAG laser resurfacing.
o Deeper rhytides and more extensive cutaneous photo-damage usually necessitate C02 laser resurfacing and Botulinum toxin injections.
