Abstract


The neuropeptide substance P (SP) is an undecapeptide that belongs to the tachykinin family and it is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous system. Ninety percent (90%) of substance Pis synthesized in the cell bodies of the peripheral nerves and ten percent (10%) is synthesized by non-neuronal sources such as endothelial cells, macrophages and eosinophils
