Mahmoud Ali Ibrahim Abd £/-Hameed;

Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted at the farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Kafr El-Sheikh, Tanta University and Seed Technology Lab of Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt during the two growing seasons 1998 and 1999. The main objective of this investigation was to study the effect of three nitrogen levels (40, 60 and 80 kg N/fed.) Three plant spacings (10x20 em, 15x20 em and
20x20 em) and cultivar mixtures rice {(25%) Giza 177 with (75%) Sakha 102}, {(75%) Giza 177 with (25%) Sakha 102}, {(50%) Giza 177 with (50%) Sakha 102}. Giza 177 and Sakha 102 on growing characters, yield, yield components and grain quality characters. A split split-plot design with three replications was used. The main plots were devoted to the nitrogen levels (40, 60 and 80 kg N/fed.) while the first order sub-plot were for plant density and the second order sub-subplot were for mixed rice varieties.
