Abstract


In Egypt , sugar beet , as an important sugar crop , received a great atten­ tion during the last few years to increase the production of sugar which was depended only on sugarcane crop .
Sugar beet is affected by many diseases . Roots are subjected to the infec­ tion by many soil-borne pathogens causing severe losses. Therefor, control of these diseases will help to increase root yield .
The course of this investigation included study the important soil- borne fungi affect sugar beet and control of these pathogens by different methods .
The obtained results can be summarized as follows:-

1) Fusarium oxysporum and Sclerotium rolfsii , were the most frequent isolat­ ed pathogens from sugar beet roots showing root-rot symptomes , fol­ lowed by Rhizoctonia solani , while Macrophomina phaseolina was the least frequent one .
