Pulmonary em bolism 1s a common disease a nd a•frequent cause of death. Th e threat of veno us thrombosi s and ac ute pulmonary embolism is a n everyday
concern 111 the care of critically ill patients. W e: sassed this

threat in th e critically ill patients. METHODS: In 70 patients who were diabetic, heart fai lure, septic, shocked a nd multipl e traumatized, taken in a randomi zed way, we coll ect the c lini ca l, l aboratory, electrocardi ographi c and q1d iol ogical data includi n g the • perfusion lun g sca n for all
patients a nd pulmonary an giogmphy for 1 0 patients who were indi cated. RESU Lrs: The prevalence of pulmonary
embolism was 4.3 %only with hi gh si gnificance for male sex, overweight, higher. tissues enzymes, low P02 &PC02
in arteri a l blood gases, RBBB for the ECG, hi gh se nsiti vity

of th e perfusion lung sca n 100% but l ow specificity 30%: CON C LUSION: The pre va l ence of pulmonary embolism
111 non risky critica lly ill patients still not l ow and all preca uti ons mu st be taken .to prevent the threat 'of thromboembolis m in the ICU patients.
