Study on the treatment of transformer oil by using some environment friendly materials to improve its efficiency
Shaimaa El-Sayed Mohamed Ali;
Abstract
Transformer oil plays very important roles in the power transformer as insulation and heat transfer media and they are very expensive. Thus, it's important to improve the properties of aged transformer oils which can be used again. In this thesis, the work was directed to different methods and techniques, which use local economic and environment friendly materials to improve the properties of transformer oils.
Procedures followed to carry out this work can be summarized as follows:
1- Literature survey on the methods used for treatment of used transformer oils.
2- Selecting the local sorbent materials that are expected to have the ability to improve the properties of transformer oils such as, inorganic sorbent sludge, kaolin and an organic sorbent such as, corn cobs.
3- Characterization of the used materials and recognizing their chemical structures.
4-Using some modern and routine methods in measurements such as, X- ray, instruments to reach the optimum conditions.
