STUDIES ON SOME PLANTS USED FOR FISH NUTRITION

Abstract


This study was carried out at the Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research (CLAR) - Abbasa - Abu Hammad­ Sharkia. Two experiments were conducted, the period of the first one was three months it was indoor experiment m which 84 glass aquaria were divided into 4 groups, each group contains the same treatments which applied lor &oth Nile tilapw and common carp separately. For each type of fish, animal protein replaced with both of water hyacinth- (Eichhornia crass1pes) leaves and water J?rimrose (Juss aea repens) leaves separately. Treatments were of 0, I 0, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 % replacinpercentage. This experiment aimed to determine the effect or replacing animal protein by these aquatic plants on the production of l:ioth Nile tilapia and common carp. The second experiment was outdoo experiment which carried out in 36 earthen pond each of lOOOm
, divided into 2 groups, water hyacinth applied in one of them
while water primrose applied m the other one. Each grouP. contained 6 treatments w1th feeding ratios ofO, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 3 ana
8 % of total fish biomass in ponds.
