Abstract


The present study was conducted to explore the relationship between job empowerment perception of staff nurses and their commitment to the organization.


The setting of the present study was medical and surgical units of Mansoura University Hospital. It included 15 units (7 medical units and 8 surgical units).



The study comprised all nurses present at the time of data collection who had more than one year of experience in their units and did not have any managerial positions. The total number of recruited nurses was 238 (100 Diploma nurses, 15 BSc from surgical units, 107 Diploma nurses and
16 BSc from medical units).



Three study tools were used in data collection, First: empowerment questionnaire, Second: organizational description opinionnaire and Third: organizational commitment questionnaire.
