Abstract


The present study aims at the assessment of changes in tumour
I
i lnecrosis factor-alpha, tumour necrosis factor receptor P75, interleukin-2

and interleukin-2 receptors in chronic liver diseases and evaluates their r-elation to the severity of disease and to the histopathological patterns.

Seventy patients were selected to perform the study, they were

!classified into the following groups: 10 patients with schistosoma! hepatic

:fibrosis (group 1), I 0 patients with chronic persistent hepatitis (group II),

10 patients with mild chronic active hepatitis (group III-a), I 0 patients with severe chronic active hepatitis (group 111-b), I 0 patients
iwith post-hepatitic cirrhosis (group IV), I 0 patients with mixed cirrhosis
i
i& schistosoma! hepatic fibrosis (group V), as well as I 0 patients with
'I
HCC & coexistent cirrhosis (group VI). They were compared to I 0

:normal subjects as a reference group.
