Analog Integrated Circuits Advanced Characterization Techniques

Maged Adel Fahmy El-Sisi;

Abstract

Since analog circuits are characterized by a large number of circuit specifications and design parameters; so many trade-offs exist in the design process.
This thesis introduces developing an EDA tool that gives insight into the complex relations between design parameters and performances of analog integrated circuits. The proposed tool adopts implementing new automated characterization techniques for using them in CMOS technology characterization as well as characterizing analog integrated circuits to facilitate many of the device modeling challenges that face the analog circuit designers.
The tool can also be used to design the analog basic blocks for certain specs.
It targets reducing the time spent by analog designers in characterizing devices of new technologies. It also facilitates the analog circuit design flow by allowing the designer to reach the optimum design in less time by reaching the sizing and biasing of the circuit’s building blocks that satisfy the required specs.
