Abstract


The effect or renin angiotensin system is widely distributed in nearly all of the body organs, and it plays a fundemental physiological role in the homeostasis of many neural, vascular, hormonal and metabolic process. This system is implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic
com pi ications.


The present study was conducted on 60 subjects divided as follows:
Group I : 15 normal control subjects.
Group II: 15 non com pi icalcd type II diabetic patients.
Group III: I 5 microalbuminuric type II diabetic patients.
Group IV: I 5 macroalbuminuric type II diabetic patients.


For each subject, the following was carried out:
I) Full clinical history and thorough clinical examination.
2) X ray chest, ECG, abdominal ultrasonography and rundus examination.
3) Liver function tests. ·

4) Fasting, postprandial bood sugar, serum urea, serum creatinine, serum K, and serum Na.
5) Complete urine analysis.
6) Special investigations:-

A)Detcction of both mtcro and macroalbum in uria.
B) Plasma renin activity.
