Abstract

Ptosis may be myogenic, neurogenic, aponeurotic and mechanical based on etiologic factors and the older grouping of ptosis into congenital and acquired types provides little information, as all of the above etiologic mechanisms may be found in ptosis occurring at birth, as well as that acquired during adulthood.
