VISUAL FIELD CHANGES AFTER SATISFACTORY ; TRABECULECTOMY IN GLAUCOMA PATIENTS
Amin Abu-Aii Hassan;
Abstract
POAG is considered a chronic, progressive, anterior optic neuropathy that is characterized by optic disc changes, visual field changes, open angle and lOP too high for continued health of the eye. Trabeculectomy is increasingly performed in patients with POAG as it appears to be the best method of achieving optimum level of lOP with preservation of visual field from further glaucomatous changes. Our study was planned to evaluate the effect of trabeculectomy operation on the progress of visual field in glaucoma patients.
Our study was carried out on 22 eyes of 20 patients (8 males and 12 females) clinically diagnosed with POAG and their ages ranged from 19 to 65 years.
Reliable visual field tests were obtained before and 1 month,
3 months and 6 months postoperatively using Humphery field analyzer model (1640).
