Abstract


eaning from the breast, inevitable stage in child's development. It is a complex process involving nutritional, immunological, biochemical and psychological adjustments. From about 6 months old, child needs more iron and other nutrients like vitamin D and C that breast milk alone cannot give. The idea of weaning is the process of gradual introduction to a wide range of (non -milk) foods so that by age one year, the child will be joining in family meals (Humphy, 2014).
Aim of the study:
To assess mothers' knowledge and practice toward weaning pattern for children within two years of age through:
1- Assess knowledge of mothers about weaning pattern.
2- Assess practices of mothers about weaning pattern.
3- Assess general health status of children.
4- Assess growth and development of the children.
Research Questions:
1- What are the health problems of children regarding weaning pattern?
2- Are there relations between mothers 'knowledge of weaning and health status of children?
3- Are there relations between mothers 'practices of weaning and health status of children?
4- Are there differences between working and non- working mothers toward weaning
