Abstract
The present study; that conducted between 2002 and 2003; deals with the floristic composition and chorological analysis in the Sallum area. The study area ( 1700 km2) extends for about 49 km fi-om Buqbuq on the. western
Mediterranean coast to Sallum on the Egyptian-Libyan frontier. Sixtv-six sites arc sampled to represent, as much as possible, the vegetation variatiOn in the different geomorphologic landscape units distinguished in the study area: Sallum plateau (U1), coastal saline depressions (U2 ), inland sandy plains (Ul), inland rocky plains (U•) and shallow wadics (U;). These sites are distributed as follows: 4, 17, 14,22 and 9 in lJ 1 , U2 , U_,, U 4 and U;, respectively.
