GASTRIC EMPTYING TIME IN OBESITY

Abstract
The purpose of the this study was to determine whether obese patients have different rates of solid and liquid gastric ertlptying compared to healthy controls . Thirty obese patients (15 males & 15 females) were investigated prior to dietary restriction.
The control group consists of 15 health subjects
(8 males & 7 females)
In obese patients a significantly shortened half emptying time and lag time for sol ids compared to control subjects.
No different in gastric emptying time for fluid in both groups.
