STUDIES ON THE POPULATION DYNAMICS OF SOME SPECIES OF GENUS LUTJANUS (FAMILY: LUTJANIDAE) FROM THE RED SEA, EGYPT
Abdulla Ahmad Mubarak Basmidi;
Abstract
The family Lutjanidae represent one of the most important families in the Egyptian sector of the Red Sea. Lutjanids or snappers are abundant, valuable and economical fish food.
The present work has been suggested due to the rarity of biological, population dynamics, stock assessment and fisheries studies with respect to three Lutjanus species, L. monostigma, L. ehrenbergi and L. bohar from the Red Sea at Hurghada, Egypt.
The present work is a part of a project executed in Assiut University to study the biology and fisheries of the Red Sea fishes at Hurghada, so more advanced techniques and statistical methods were considered to answer a lot of important questions.
The results of.the present work can be summarized in the following points:
1. The scale characteristics, of the three Lutjanus considered were studied in the term of morphometry and Scanning electron Microscopic techniques.
