Investigation of the Catalytic Activity of Some Metal Oxides Systems in Relation to Their Preparative Variables allfl Pltysico-Chemical Characteristics

Hassan Mohamed Ahmed;

Abstract

Catalytic materials exist in various forms and their preparation involves different protocols with a multitude of possible preparation schemes, many times larger than the number of known catalysts. Moreover, preparation of any catalyst involves a sequence of several complex processes, many of them not completely understood. As a result, subtle changes in the preparative details may result in dramatic alteration in the properties of the final catalyst. The chemical composition of the starting material and the method of preparation may greatly affect the properties of the final product.
Within the frame of the present study the thermal decomposition route, has been adopted, for the preparation of active solids, starting from Co{II)•and Co{lll)•
containing compounds. The investigated precursors are

Cobalt nitratehexahydrate
Cobalt acetatetetrahydrate HexamineCobalt (III) Hexanitrocobalt (III) HexamineCobalt (III) Nitrate.
Carbonate tetramine cobalt (Ill) nitrate hemihydrate
Trinitrotriamine cobalt (JII)

Ammoniumtris carbonato cobalt (III) trihydrate

Catc,I Catc,II Catc,III Catc,IV Catc,V Catc,VI
Catc,VII

This would enable a comprehensive study of the probable effects of the chemical composition of the concerned precursors on the textural and catalytic properties of the resulting cobalt oxide systems.
