EVALUATION OF RESULTS OF MODIFIED MITCHELL OSTEOTOMY FOR TREATMENT OF HALLUX VALGUS DEFORMITY OF THE BIG TOE IN ADULTS

Abstract


The present study included 20 patients (24 feet) with hallux valgus deformity.
The age incidence in this study ranged from 18-28 years with a mean of22.3 years.
Females were affected in 80% of cases. The sides affected were nearly equal. Most of the patients were university students.
The most common clinical presentations were pam (66.7%) and disfigurement (I 00%).
By clinical examination all patients were presented by bunion. Radiologically; IMA ranged from 13°-22° with a mean of 17.9°, MFA ranged from 28°-34° with a mean of 30.4°, the MTPjoint was congruent in
17 feet (70.8%).
Almost half of the patients were followed up more than 6 months (54.2%), while the other half was followed up at least 6 months period (45.8%).
There were 3 patients (12.5%) presented with postoperative complications.
