Abdeen A. Rahman Ali Baraja;

Abstract

Hypertension is a very common chronic disease over the world, and renovascular hypertension (RVH) is probably less than
1% of all patients with hypertension. R VH is the most common curable cause of high blood pressure could be cured by surgical intervention or angioplasty.

Practically, renovascular hypertension defines as hypertension resulting from a renal arterial lesion that is relived by correction of the offending lesion.

Interest in RVH was initiated since the observation by Goldblatt and coworker in 1934 that placement of an arterial clamp on the renal artery of dogs could lead to an elevated blood pressure. Almost immediately investigators began to study for a hormonal mechanism to explain the pathophysiology of the experimental renal hypertension. The studies were result in discovery of the renin-angiotensin system.
