STUDIES ON SOME TISSUE PARASITES IN FISH
Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahem Abd El - Aal;
Abstract
The present work was aimed to inspect tissue parasites which infest, Fresh water fish, Tilapia species and Clarias lazera and Marine fish, Saw•us tumbil and Epinephelus gigas collected from Sharkia and Mattroh provinces in the period extended from January, 1998 to
December 2000 .
The study revealed 11 species of tissue parasites (four protozoa, one cestode larva, two nematode larva, one trematode cyst and three encysted metacercaria ) .
Out of 700 fish specimen 264 (37.7%) were infested with
different types of tissue parasites. The infestation rates were 27.1%,
20.6%, 59% and 55%in Tilapia species, Clarias lazera, Saurus tumbil
and Epinephelus gigas respectively .
Dealing with the infestation of different tissue parasites among fish species according to the morphological studies as wdl as lhe keys used, Tilapia species was infested with protozoa 12.5% identified as Myxobolus dermatobia 12.5% and encysted metacer cariae 15% namely Diplostomum paracaudum 1.7%, Clinostomum
4- complanatum 7.9% and Euclinostomum heterostomum 5.4%.
Clarias lazera was infested with protozoa at a rate of 20.6%
which identified as Henneguya branchia/is 16.7% and Myxidium sp.
3.9%.
