Abstract


The present study was conducted on 170 patients with chronic hepatitis C with early cirrhosis who were classified into the following groups:

Group lA: 60 nai've patients with chronic hepatitis C with early cirrhosis who received combination therapy of
• interferon alpha 3 MIU three times weekly plus amantadine HCL 200 mg daily for 6 months.

Group lB: 50 patients in group IA (as 10 patients discontinued therapy after 6 months) who VjjJ,e continued the combination therapy of Interferon 3 MIU three
times weekly plus Amantadine HCL 200 mg daily for another 6 months completing one year therapy and followed up 6 months after stoppage therapy (sustained virological response).

Group I lA: 60 naive patients with chronic hepatitis C with early cirrhosis who were receivedinterferon alpha 3
