APPLICATION OF INTEGRATED CROP MANAGEMENT IN POTATO CROP CULTIVATION IN RELATION TO PESTICIDES AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Abstract


During the summer season of 2013 and 2014.the experimental trials were conducted at two locations on potato crop to study the effect of implementation of IPM program such as cultivars, location, treatments with bio pesticide against traditional pesticides and their interaction on some traits included plant height, number of stems/plant, number of tubers/plant, number of tubers /stem, tuber weight, tuber size, dry matter and marketable yield.
A field experiment was conducted in a privatefarm at two locations. The first one at el-Twfikya (Gharbia Governorate) Delta area on a loamy sandy soil with pH of 7.2 and EC of 1.16( ds/m), the second at Wady El-Natron (Behira Governorate) Desert area on a sandy soil with pH of 6.7 and EC of 0.3 ( ds/m)
Six cultivars were used (Slaney, Cara, Burren, Royal and Spunta).
Bio pesticides programs was depended on Protecto (B.T.) at 100g/100 litter water on 37, 48, 110 days of crop age. Spointer 24% (Spinosad) at 20ml/ 100litter water on 55,70 days of crop age. Proclaim (Emamectin benzoate) dose was 30cm/ 100litter water on 100 days and cobal 97% (mineral oil) at 300ml/ 100litter on 80-90 days of crops age. Existing traditional chemical pesticides had used with normal dose.
The design of the trail was Split-Split-Plot with four replicates, each replicate divided into 6 plots. Each plot had an area 42.6 m2.the objective of this study is set out implementation of IPM program for potato cultivation and reduce dependence on pesticide to get friendly environment. And monitoring of the pesticide residues in potato.
Recommended best agriculture practice has achieved on potato experiment field at the end of the two summer seasons harvesting process had done by labors manually. The traits including marketable yield had calculated based on 2m2 /plot. Analysis of variance was determined at P ≤ 0.05 level. Duncan’s multiple range test was used for the comparison among treatments means.
Results
Plant height(cm)
Effect ofcultivar
Slaney had the highest mean average of plant height. While Spunta was the lowest mean average of plant height. These results had indicted the effect of cultivar on plant height.
Effect oflocation
The highest value of plant height was at El-Delta location compared with Desert location. These results had indicted the effect of location on plant height.
Effect oftreatment
No-significant effect for treatment on the mean average of the plant height in the two years. Which was indicted the potential use of bio pesticides in global control of potato pests.
Effect ofinteraction between cultivar and location
There was a significant effect for interaction between cultivar and location on the mean average of the plant height in one year.

Number ofstems / plant
Effect ofcultivar
Cara had the highest mean average of number of stems / plant. While Royal had the lowest mean average of number of stems / plant. These results had indicted the effect of cultivar on number of stems / plant.
Effect oflocation
The highest value of number of stems / plant was at El-Desert location compared with Delta location. These results had indicted the effect of location on number of stems / plant.
Effect oftreatment
No-significant effect for treatment on the mean average of the number of stems / plant in the two years. Which was indicted the potential use of bio pesticides in global control of potato pests.
Effect ofinteraction betweencultivar andlocation
There was a significant effect for interaction between cultivar and location on the mean average of the number of stems / plant in two year.
No of Tubers / stem
Effect ofcultivar
Banba had the highest mean average of No of Tubers / Stem. While Spunta had the lowest mean average of No of Tubers / Stem. These results had indicted the effect of cultivar on No of Tubers / Stem.

Effect oflocation
The highest values of No of Tubers / Stem was at El-Desert location compared with Delta location. These results had indicted the effect of location on No of Tubers / Stem.
Effect oftreatment
The value of no of tubers / stem for Bio pesticide was higher than traditional pesticide treatment in one years. Which was indicted the potential use of bio pesticides in global control of potato pests.
Effect ofinteraction betweencultivar andlocation
There was no-significant effect for interaction between cultivar and location on the mean average of the No of Tubers / Stem.
